to our two new sponsored players, Hannah Smith and Charlie Ford. They were both in action at the weekend at the V2 National Finals with Hannah competing in the Junior category and Charlie in the Youth category.
Charlie did very well and fought his way through a tough group to the final where, in a repeat of last year's V2 Youth World Cup Final, he met Tom Brown. Last year Charlie was the only player in the tournament to take a period off Tom but this time it wasn't to be and Tom took the trophy and Charlie took the runner-up medal. We are very proud of Charlie. He played very well and we are delighted that he was representing VX International.
Meanwhile in the Junior category Hannah was systematically destroying all her opponents, giving notice of her intentions with a first match rout. After that she never let up and took the title convincingly to give notice that she has arrived!
On the other hand disaster struck for our third sponsored player, Tom Hildreth, who was due to compete in the senior V2. Unfortunately Tom had been fighting illness all week and was forced to withdraw on the day of the tournament. This sadly has the knock-on effect of meaning Tom won't be participating in the World Cup (unless exceptional circumstances lead to that happening) as the National Finals act as a qualifier for that tournament. This will be the first time since it started that Tom won't have been part of it.
The two days saw some excellent V2 with many of the games being played exactly as V2 should be played - fast, furious and with lots of excitement for spectators.

We'd like to finish this post by saying well done to the organisers and officials, to all of the competitors and congratuations also to youth champion Tom Brown and his brother, senior champion, Jack Brown.
